“Isn’t it odd. We can only see our outsides, but nearly everything happens on the inside.”

What is Equine-Assisted Learning?
EAL is a type of experiential learning that brings in the wisdom of horses through the horse-human connection. This is unique because it directly involves the learner in an experience, followed by reflection. This combination increases knowledge and skills in a way that is uniquely memorable for the learner.
Moreover, there is no right or wrong in this learning context; we are open to all outcomes. This paradigm is particularly applicable to activities with horses as we cannot predict their behavior! Letting go of the outcome makes way for the unexpected which is often quite beautiful.

How Can Horses Help?
Horses take us as we are right now. They don’t care about our job title, social status, bank account, or a multitude of other factors that we humans are often consumed with. They stand with us in the present moment, reflecting our true selves without judgement. Horses offer connection and love without condition, a new chance to try again every time we meet. That is the magic, the beauty, the power of horses.
Lokahi Acres is proud to provide sanctuary for rescue horses. Each horse has a own unique story to share; our equines have the freedom to choose when and how to participate in EAL activities.
Make a Choice to Change
We partner with horses to help us explore feelings, thoughts and emotions – with the goal of becoming centered, empowered individuals through activities like guided meditation, targeted heart coherence and vulnerable connection.
EAL can help those suffering with anxiety, worry, or significant stress through calm connection exercises.
EAL can help individuals who struggle to relate to the world around them, or who benefit from nontraditional learning environments.
